Right, so I've been playing live dealer blackjack for about three years now, and I've finally got a system that keeps me in the green more often than not. Nothing fancy, just solid discipline really.

First thing—and this is where I went wrong for ages—pick the right table. I used to just jump on whatever was available, but now I only play European blackjack with 3:2 payouts. Some of the dodgy sites try sneaking in 6:5 tables, absolute rip-off that.

I stick with Evolution Gaming tables mostly. The dealers are sound and the streaming quality doesn't cut out mid-hand like some other providers I've tried.

My bankroll strategy is dead simple. I never sit down with less than 40 times the minimum bet. So if it's a fiver table, I'm bringing at least 200 quid. This gives me breathing room when the cards go cold, which they absolutely will. I've seen too many mates blow their whole budget in ten minutes because they sat at a table they couldn't properly afford.

I play basic strategy to the letter—no hunches, no gut feelings. Got a chart saved on my phone for the first few months until it became second nature. The house edge is low enough on blackjack that you can actually have decent sessions if you're not making daft moves like splitting tens or taking insurance every hand.

Here's my biggest lesson learned the hard way: set a win limit AND a loss limit before you even log in. Mine's simple—if I'm up 50 percent, I cash out half and play with winnings. If I'm down 60 percent of my session bankroll, I'm done. No chasing, no "one more hand." That's killed me before (once lost £300 in about twenty minutes trying to chase back a bad streak).

Also, avoid the side bets. Perfect Pairs, 21 plus 3, all that stuff—the odds are shocking. I know they're tempting when you're on a bad run, but they're proper bankroll killers.

Last bit—play during off-peak hours if you can. Tables are less crowded, games move faster, and honestly some dealers are more chatty which makes the whole thing more enjoyable. I usually play weekday afternoons when I can.

Not gonna pretend I win every session, but this approach has kept me playing longer and actually enjoying it rather than just haemorrhaging money.
